Question 1:
What should my filter pressure be?

Answer: A D.E. (Diatonaceous Earth) filter's typical pressure is 15 - 20 PSI. Backwash when the PSI is 7 - 10 above the normal start-up pressure. A sand filter's pressure is approximately 10-15 PSI. Backwash at 7 - 10 PSI above. A catridge filter's pressure is 12 - 15 PSI. Backwash 7 - 10 PSI above.

Question 2:
What chlorine reading is proper?

Answer: 1.0 - 3.0 is ideal, however, it can be as high as 5.0 as long as the other factors are in balance.

How many hours a day does my pool need to run?

Answer: 12 hours minimum, however 24 hours is ideal.

How often should I shock?

Answer: At least once weekly, more after heavy bather load or rain storm.

How often do I need to backwash?

Answer: When filter pressure is 7 - 10 PSI above start-up.

Question 7:
What's the best way to keep my pool clear?

Answer: Proper Ph Balance is 7.4 - 7.6. Run filter 24 hours, brush and vacuum weekly, and backwash (clean filter) when needed.

Question 8:
After a storm what should I do?

Answer: Run pool continuously for 24 hours, brush and vacuum pool, balance PH (Alkalinity 100 - 125 ppm), and shock pool.

Question 9:
My pool has no suction, why?

Answer: Check to see if water level is high enough and if the skimmer weir (door) is stuck. Are the skimmer baskets clean? Is the pump basket clean? Is the pump primed? Are the valves open? Is the filter clean?

My heater won't fire, why?

Answer: Dirty Filter (Backwash) - Check above question 9.
